Controls
The camera
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
W A S D | Fly |
Space / Shift | Up / down |
Ctrl (hold) | Fly faster |
Alt (hold) | Fly slower |
| Right mouse (hold) | Look around |
| Right mouse (tap) | Back to Select |
Speed starts at 0.35 and runs between 0.02 and 4.00. Boost and slow are multipliers on top of whatever you have set, so a comfortable base speed plus Ctrl covers most distances without changing the setting.
Selecting and placing
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
| Left mouse | Place, or select |
| Left mouse drag | Box select |
C (hold) | Add to the selection |
V (hold) | Remove from the selection |
Box select reaches 50 metres and takes at most 400 objects at once. The same 400 is the cap on a bulk selection generally — large enough for a town square, small enough that one drag cannot lock up your client.
Moving what you have selected
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
G | Move gizmo |
R | Rotate gizmo |
U | Drop to ground |
B | Duplicate |
X | Delete |
J | Undo |
| Arrow keys | Nudge along X and Y |
Q / Z | Nudge up / down |
Undo goes back 60 steps.
Nudge is the precise one
The arrows and Q/Z move the selection exactly one step — 0.05 by default, changeable from the snap controls down to 0.001. That is how you close a one-centimetre gap that the gizmo keeps overshooting.
While placing
The keys change meaning when you have a prop on the cursor and have not placed it yet:
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
| Arrow keys | Turn and tilt the preview |
Q / Z | Push it further away / pull it nearer |
R | Give it a random turn |
Placement distance starts at 6 m and runs from 0.5 m to 100 m. The preview turns slowly on the spot so you can see all sides of it before committing, and faces the camera by default.
The interface
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
H | Show / hide the editor interface |
Backspace | Close the editor |
Esc | Close the editor |
H is worth knowing — it leaves you flying with everything placed and selected, just without panels in the way. It is how you look at what you have actually built.
Rebinding
Every player rebinds their own keys in Help → Controls. Their choice is theirs; it does not change anyone else's.
The server-wide defaults are in Config.KeyBindings:
Config.KeyBindings = {
Forward = 'W',
Backward = 'S',
Left = 'A',
Right = 'D',
Up = 'SPACEBAR',
Down = 'SHIFT',
Boost = 'CTRL',
Slow = 'LALT',
Place = 'MOUSE1',
Select = 'MOUSE1',
MultiSelect = 'C',
Deselect = 'V',
ToggleGizmo = 'G',
GizmoMode = 'R',
SnapToGround = 'U',
Clone = 'B',
DeleteObject = 'X',
Undo = 'J',
ToggleHud = 'H',
Exit = 'BACKSPACE',
NudgeXPlus = 'RIGHT',
NudgeXMinus = 'LEFT',
NudgeYPlus = 'UP',
NudgeYMinus = 'DOWN',
NudgeZPlus = 'Q',
NudgeZMinus = 'Z',
}A binding that did not take is findable
/rm_diag keysprints what every binding actually resolved to. A name the game does not recognise shows up here rather than silently doing nothing, which is the difference between "my key is broken" and a typo in config.lua.
If the camera gets stuck
/rm_unstickResets the camera and the interface focus. From the server console, for someone else:
rm_mapeditor_unstick <id>Both are safe to run at any time — they put you back in your body without touching anything you have placed.
