RedM Map Editor

Build, edit and export maps for RedM from inside the game. Fly the camera, place from a catalogue of 17,473 entries, snap and nudge everything into position, then export a ready-to-run resource or a real .ymap.

Any framework oxmysql ACE or VORP groups

The 60-second version

  1. Drop the folder into resources, keeping the name rm_mapeditor.

  2. Add it to server.cfg, after oxmysql:

    cfg
    ensure oxmysql
    ensure rm_mapeditor
    add_ace group.admin rm_mapeditor.use allow
  3. Start the server and type /mapeditor in game.

The five database tables are created on first start. Nothing to import.

The ACE line is the step people skip

Then they open a ticket because /mapeditor does nothing. The default permission mode is 'both' — an ACE or a VORP group will do, but you need one of them.

What it does

A catalogue of 17,473 entries — props, prop groups, people, animals, wagons, boats and train cars, sorted into categories with search, favourites and recent. Live preview before you place.

Placing and shaping. A move and rotate gizmo with Global and Local axes. Grid, angle, surface and prop-to-prop snapping. Drop to ground, align to slope. Exact coordinates and angles typed into the Entity tab when you need them precise.

Filling space. Brush and Scatter for ground cover, trees and debris across large areas, with density, spacing and random yaw.

The world itself. Take the game's own props into your map, or remove them for everyone. Select, move and delete the game's people, animals and wagons — and place your own, with scenarios.

Real doors. Capture and Align line a door up with any wall, and the ymap export writes it as an actual door. Doors inside an MLO are written into a copy of that MLO's .ytyp.

Export and import. Four export formats, three import formats. A map built here can leave as a ready-to-run resource and never need the editor again.

Requirements

RedM serverAny build supporting fx_version 'cerulean' and lua54 'yes'
oxmysqlRequired, started before this resource
FrameworkNot required. ACE permissions work on any server; VORP groups are supported if you have them

Prop thumbnails load from the internet

The catalogue's preview images are fetched from GitHub at runtime, not shipped with the resource. The editor works without them — you get the names and the live in-world preview — but the thumbnail grid will be blank on a server with no outbound access.

The five tables

Created automatically on first start:

TableHolds
rm_mapeditor_mapsYour maps
rm_mapeditor_objectsEverything placed in them
rm_mapeditor_removedGame world props you removed
rm_mapeditor_unavailableModels the server could not resolve
rm_mapeditor_auditWho did what, with 45-day retention by default

Editions

Both are sold from the same product page.

EditionPriceCode access
Open Source$120The full codebase
RedM Escrow$37CFX Escrow — config.lua and server_config.lua stay editable

Everything in this documentation that tells you to edit something points at config.lua or server_config.lua, so nothing here needs the Open Source edition.

Run /rm_diag before opening a ticket — it checks the editor against itself and names what is wrong.
