Standalone
Standalone resources need no framework at all. They run on a bare RedM server, and they run alongside any framework too — which makes them the safest thing to buy if you are unsure what your server is, or if you expect to change frameworks later.
What "standalone" means
A standalone script does not read player money, jobs, characters or inventory from a framework. It handles its own state, or it only affects things that are purely client-side.
That has real advantages:
- No load-order problems. There is no framework to start first.
- No version drift. It cannot break when your core updates.
- Portable. It survives a framework migration untouched.
And a real limitation: without a framework it has no built-in concept of who is staff. Scripts that need a permission model on standalone use ACE permissions instead — see RedM Reports → Permissions for a worked example.
Standalone plus framework
Some scripts are standalone by default but integrate further when a framework is present — for example resolving real character names instead of player IDs. The script's config states whether it does this.
Installing
The simplest install there is:
- Extract the folder into
resources/[redmorrow]/. - Add
ensure <resource>toserver.cfg. - Restart.
No framework and no dependency order. If a standalone resource still fails to start, the cause is almost always the manifest — see The RedM fxmanifest.
Note that "standalone" refers to the framework, not to every dependency. A standalone script can still require oxmysql for persistence, or another resource for a specific feature. Check its requirements before assuming it needs nothing.
ACE permissions on standalone
With no framework to ask "is this player an admin?", standalone scripts fall back to the server's own ACE system:
add_ace group.admin redmorrow.staff allow
add_principal identifier.license:abc123... group.adminACE has a real advantage over framework groups: it is checked server-side by the server itself, and it cannot be spoofed by a modified client or changed through an in-game job change.
No framework yet?
If you have a bare server and want to build a real roleplay server, you will need a framework eventually. Start at Which one am I on? to pick one.
